The GICHD and the Small Arms Survey sign new Memorandum of Understanding

GENEVA—The GICHD and the Small Arms Survey signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration and partnership.

The two entities are seeking to leverage their respective capacities and expertise to further shared objectives with respect to ammunition risk management practices and related normative frameworks. Specifically, the GICHD and the Small Arms Survey agree to collaborate on: research and knowledge sharing; norms and standards development; capacity-building assistance; as well as dissemination and outreach.

The GICHD is an expert organisation working towards reducing risk to communities caused by explosive ordnance, with a focus on landmines, cluster munitions and ammunition stockpiles, and the Small Arms Survey is a global centre of excellence whose mandate is to generate evidence-based, impartial, and policy-relevant knowledge on all aspects of small arms and armed violence.

Directors Ambassador Stefano Toscano from the GICHD and Daniel de Torres from the Small Arms Survey signed the new MoU on 29 March 2022, at Maison de la Paix in Geneva, where both organisations are located.
